New York officials are investigating what they say is a scheme by health insurers to mislead and shortchange their members across the nation on reimbursement, costing them hundreds of millions of dollars.New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo announced the probe Wednesday and plans to sue UnitedHealth Group for its role in a scheme he said is meant “to deceive and defraud consumers.”Cuomo, who seeks penalties and restitution %26#8212; potentially for consumers nationwide %26#8212; has already subpoenaed 16 companies, including Aetna and CIGNA.
