The 2008 Namaqualand daisy tour offers something special for flower fans…
August 22: Depart Joburg and travel south to Bloemfontein. Visit the Women’s Memorial. Drive past the historical buildings. Continue to Colesberg for dinner and overnight at the Colesburg Lodge.
August 23: After breakfast continue south via Beaufort West via the historical town of Matjiesfontein to Worcester for dinner and overnight at the Cumberland Hotel.
August 24: Travel via Wellington, Malmesbury and Darling, home of Evita Bezuidenhout, on to Saldanha Bay for dinner and overnight at Blue Bay Lodge.
August 25 and 26: After breakfast depart Saldanha Bay, visit the West Coast National Park and Lamberts Bay via Elands Bay. These two days are spent travelling around the Citrusdal and Clanwilliam areas. Clanwilliam is one of the oldest towns in South Africa, also the headquarters of the South African Rooibos Tea Industry. Take a walk around the Ramskop Nature Reserve. Visit Bird Island in Lambert’s Bay. Dinner and overnight at the Lambert’s Bay Hotel.
August 27: After breakfast, travel north from Lambert’s Bay via Van Rhynsdorp, Bitterfontein, Garies, Kamieskroon and Skilpad always in search of more flowers. Dinner and overnight at Kokerboom Motel in Springbok.
August 28: Enjoy a hearty breakfast before travelling around the Springbok area visiting Goegap Nature Reserve, O’Kiep, Nababeep and Port Nolloth. Dinner and overnight at Kokerboom Motel.
August 29: Journey on towards Kakamas where we will visit the Pella Mission near Pofadder. Dinner and overnight at the Kalahari Gateway Hotel.
August 30: Depart from Kakamas to the Augrabies Falls National Park to view the Augrabies Falls. Continue via Upington and Olifantshoek to Kuruman for dinner and overnight at the El Dorado Motel.
August 31: After breakfast visit the “Kuruman Eye” and the Moffat Mission before embarking on the final leg of your journey. Travel via Wolmaranstad, Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom to arrive in Johannesburg in the late afternoon.
