Police are calling for witnesses as they investigate a violent attempted abduction in Titahi Bay, Porirua, north of Wellington.
A young woman was walking through an alley from Park Lane to Titahi Bay beach between 3am and 3.30am on Thursday when she was grabbed from behind by a male hiding in bushes, police said today.
She was pulled to the ground, but managed to fend off her attacker and run down the alleyway to the beach.
The attacker is described as of medium height, solid build, brown skin and eyes and speaking with a Samoan accent. He was wearing a black beanie, a red bandana tied around the bottom part of his face, a black hooded sweatshirt and flat slip-on shoes with a black and white chequered pattern.
