Twin baby girls aged four months have critical head injuries after they were bashed in New South Wales;s central west.
Police say the alarm was raised after the girls were taken to hospital, and a 23-year-old man from Ermington in western Sydney has been charged.
Police were contacted by staff at Orange Base Hospital after the girls were admitted last night, NSW Police said in a statement today.
The Ermington man was arrested and taken to Orange police station where he was interviewed before being charged.
The girls have been airlifted to the Children;s Hospital at Westmead where their condition is described as critical.
The man is facing two counts of maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail and is due to face Orange Local Court later today.
